Being a photographer, I’ve learned that it is more economical to send my pictures off for printing than to print them off myself, especially when I need to print more than 300 to 400 pictures at a time.  I did a little online research and there are a couple of places you can go to compare pricing and shipping for photo prints.  

 

One site is printrates.com.  With this site you put in the size and number of prints needed and you can see which online print company has the best price.  Some pricing is based on the number of prints and may become cheaper with the more prints you order.

 

Another place to compare print pricing is bestwebbuys.com.  However, this site does not enable you to put in the number of prints desired as printrates.com. 

 

One thing to remember is that you have to factor in the number of prints and the price of shipping for a full comparison. 

 

Quality of Prints?

 

Price is not the only concern.  You want to make sure that the quality of the pictures is good and that the service and shipping is good as well.  One way to do this is to Google the company and read reviews on different web sites. 

 

I personally tried pephoto.com. Not only do they have the lowest print prices I’ve seen online (as low as 6 cents per 4×6 print if you catch a sale), but their picture quality is good and their shipping is FAST, I mean within a matter of  3 or 4 days after you place your order.  Another good thing about this company is you can call them and actually talk to a real person.  That’s a big plus for me. 

 

Choose a photo print company based on your own set of qualifiers, but hopefully this will give you a little guidance.
